In a world where disunity reigns, the Body and Bride of Christ, His Church, is to be the example of Unity. As such, unity has been a foundational principle that God has impressed on this Church early in its inception. Philippians 2:2-3 says, “Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord, and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” As these verses adress first, “we are to be of the same mind” in the essential doctrines we hold to. In all other matters we are committed to humbly “pursuing the things which make for peace and the building up of one another” (Romans 14:19). We believe that Christ is the head of the Church, and if we (individually and corporately), in humility, pursue and submit to Him alone, God will most be glorified.
